When we sleep stress fades away and skin cells are able to repair themselves faster. This is when healing and regeneration happens. It is best, therefore to concentrate on cleansing your skin, as well as exfoliating and lightening, in the evening just before bed. Cleansers Cleansing in the evening helps remove impurities from the pores and creates a pH balanced surface that prepares the skin for nighttime hydration. Allow the cleanser to sit on your skin a few minutes before removing. This will help dissolve make-up and dirt more effectively. In the winter, if you live in a dry climate or have dry skin, a cream cleanser is best for its non drying effects. Gel cleansers with fruit acids exfoliate and boost collagen and are ideal for oily skin. Most cream cleansers are safe to use as an eye make-up remover. Apply using a firm touch in a circular motion. This is great for boosting blood flow and helps avoid puffiness and dark circles. After cleansing rinse well with tepid water and pat dry. Once a week use a gel cleanser-it is an ideal for deep cleaning. Toners Toners are really just a light cleanser. They brighten the skin and contain therapeutic ingredients essential for healthy skin. They actually target excess oil, even out blotchiness, and help correct the pH balance of your skin. They also help tighten pores making your skin smoother. This step is as important as any but so often jumped over so make sure you integrate this important step into your morning routine. I recommend mornings only unless you have extremely oily skin or you applied a heavy amount of make-up during the day and need a little extra cleansing in the pm. Some toners are perfect for a calming eye compress to diminish puffiness and tired looking eyes. Toners work wonders as a compress to reduce redness and rosesea acne as well. The JK Beauty Toners contain antibacterial and anti-inflammatory botanical extracts that reduce redness, swelling and provide a cooling, nourishing and strengthening element to your skin. Use your recommended toner morning and throughout the day, especially if you have worked out. It's handy to have your toner readily available in a spritzer bottle. In the morning, follow a light splashing of tepid water to your face with a toner recommended for your skin type. Men's Corner Follow the same cleansing program as above. Make sure you use a toner after shaving as it helps calm the skin, reducing redness, and tightens pores. It is the best aftershave. This winter JK Beauty will be introducing a gentle shaving cream that will keep skin soft and help prevent ingrown hairs. We will make sure you get a sample when you are in the salon. Men often ask if they should shave before a facial, The answer is, if you are not prone to in grown hairs, breakouts or have other issues associated with shaving, then yes it's fine. Shaving is a form of exfoliating so the skin is ready for a wonderful hydrating, nourishing, and firming facial treatment. If you are prone to skin irritations from shaving then by all means, skip it before a facial. The irritated and sensitive skin will make your facial uncomfortable. Teen's Corner If acne or breakouts are problematic, use an acne medication and/or spot treatments at night and only after cleansing. Acne medication increases your skin's sensitivity to the sun so it is best to use at night. A few additional pointers that will help with keeping your skin clean: Cleanse and disinfect your cell phones often and remember to keep your hands away from your face. All of JK Beauty products are made fresh for the season, in small batches, based on your skin care needs.
