The great Ennio Morricone's score from The Mission is simply extraordinary. Listening to this incredible soundtrack transports me to another place...the music washes over me and all of this world is forgotten. My favorite piece from this incredible soundtrack is Gabriel's Oboe. It touches my soul in a way that is quite amazing.
Whenever I feel a need to put perspective on the day, you know the proverbial "wishing to see the tree through the forest', I play this music and marvel in the beauty of the world.
Many of you know the lovely Pilate Studio next door to me that offers pilates classes as well as tantalizing beauty services such as Mink Eyelash Extensions, Sugaring, and Body Slimming Programs like the Sudatonic Detoxification Body Wrap.
I indulged in a Sudatonic Detox Body Wrap last week. Looking for a way to further my spring cleaning I suppose. What I found was an extraordinary experience. After an application of exquisite body cream, I was wrapped in a thin plastic sheet, then bundled in the Sudatonic Infrared Blanket. It was a cold Spring day so raising my interior body temperature to the level it did felt nice.
I had heard great things about this treatment. Perfected years ago by the French (I am told this is the REAL reason why French women don't get fat), the Sudatonic System has only recently arrived stateside.
Eager to shed some toxins and perhaps a few inches, I signed up.
The 50 minute treatment is designed to raise the internal temperature of your body through the use of deep penetrating infrared heat, much like a fever but without being sick. The increased body temperature increases circulation and makes you sweat a lot. I am told it is equivalent to running six miles and burning between 1,800-4,000 calories.
Lying there, all bundled up on the cozy bed, I felt transported to another place. Strands of Morricone's music wafted through my mind and I felt transported to the jungles of South American...it was relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. I look forward to my next treatment soon.
Until next week,
I just returned from a mini holiday in Arizona where the skies were turquoise and the days were hot. There is something so therapeutic about lounging poolside among orange blossoms with a limoncello in hand. A reprieve from gray Seattle does wonders for my psyche and I returned energized and ready for my annual spring clean.
My first to-do item is 1) clean out my vanity and cabinet drawers. I remove all my make-up, skin care products, brushes, bottles, tins, etc. I give the drawers and cabinets a thorough once over and ready them for the products I will use over the next six months.
Lining up all the products (make-up and skin care) I 2) check the expiration date. If it is past the expiration date, or you have had it longer then six months (mascara for example) discard it. Don't worry, if you can't find the expiration date or are unsure of a product simply bring it into the clinic and I can help you determine its healthiness. Remember, I always give a discount on new purchases when you bring in any bottle of any skin care products (not just mine).
Next I 3) wash all my brushes in a gentle detergent (wool lite is perfect). Make sure they are thoroughly dried before re-storing.
I then 4)make a list of all the new products I will need for the next six months. It usually looks like this:
Lipstick and gloss
One or two new brushes
Lighter or heavier Cream (depending on travel plans)
Seasonal Mask and Peel
Finally I 5) book my treatments for the season. This usually entails a lovely detoxifying body wrap (new treatment offered here at the Sorrento) and Limoncello di Bellezza©, my signature treatment. Limoncello di Bellezza© was developed years ago to lighten and brighten the skin, clear congested pores, and turn back the clock by removing dull, tired skin. This is the perfect treatment for Spring and Summer and I encourage you to book yours soon.
Looking outside on this cold drizzly Spring day I know how tough it can be to muster up the energy to tackle this project. So I thought a little incentive might help. When you bring in your old jars and bottles of skin cream (remember it doesn't have to just be mine) you will receive $5.00 off each new product you purchase from me. And for every $100.00 in products you purchase you will receive a travel - goody bag and $10.00 Body Wrap Gift certificate.
Until next week,
