Moisturizers, Creams,

"Simplicity is indeed often the sign of truth and a criterion of beauty"

This quote by Mahlon Hoagland couldn't ring truer to me. I find it applies to all areas of my life...like my Apple Strudel - a delicious family recipe handed down by doing, from one generation to the next. Made with simple and few ingredients, this strudel literally makes one gush with delight.

Perhaps it is my European background but I find that a can of pasta sauce just doesn't compare to vine ripened tomatoes and fresh basil from the garden -truly simple, truly delicious.

This is the same approach I take with my beauty products. I find that the skin responds to simpler, more natural ingredients. Compared to mass produced lotions and creams that contain ingredients you don't recognize and are often included to preserve the life of the product and to add filler.
For comparisons sake, I have listed the most commonly used ingredients found in "off the shelf" creams and lotions. They are: Water, Mineral Oil, Ispropyl Palmitate, Petroleum, Steric Acid, Ceresin, Glycerin, Stearate, Ceyl Alcohol, Candelillia Wax, Sorbitan Oleate, Triethanolamine, Laureth-23, Carbomer Trisodium EDTA, DMDM Hydanatoin (by the way, spell check stopped at every one of the words).

Here is a list of the most commonly used ingredients, created in small batches, with a shelf life of 1 year. Distilled Water, JK Blend Complex 1 (a balanced mixture of natural antioxidants), Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil, Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Witch Hazel, and my JK Blend of natural Preservatives including Rosemary, Thyme, Lavender Flower Extract, Citrus Medica Liminum (Lemon Peel) Extract, Olea Europea (Olive) Leaf Extract.

Grape seed Oil benefits the skin with is natural anti inflammatory, antimicrobial properties and is an antioxidant that soothes red, irritated skin and aids in reducing skin inflammation) it doesn't harm your whole self.

Or Jojoba, which improves dryness and firms the skin but because it is stable and resists oxidation, it does not require preservatives like parabens which can irritate skin.

Natural ingredients like the ones I use, and the ingredients you should train yourself to look for in skin care products, mimic the structure of your skin and are essential for helping the skin function normally, keeping your skin in balance.
Creams and lotions nourish and treat your skin, improve skin texture and skin tone. The best cream for you depends on many factors, your age, skin type, the season, and your specific conditions.
 New This Spring :
Tinted Moisturizer:
JK Beauty has an all in one enhancing tinted moisturizer that gives you that sun kissed look in a sheer coverage. This unique formula offers immediate skin brightening based on natural MICA. The semi transparent coverage lets the skin shine through without a masking effect. The result is younger looking skin with a natural glow.

Just remember that a skin care product is only as good as what it contains and how those ingredients can help your skin stay in balance.

So like my Apple Strudel, a moisturizer made from simple, fresh and honest ingredients combined in small batches by hand will make your skin gush with delight.
